Highlights

Monitoring and Prediction
Entire country shall receive less than 20 mm of rainfall during 13th-18th March, but higher magnitude of rainfall is predicted for the western coastal districts of Sri Lanka. Hambantota district shall be dry on 17th March 2013 and Nuwara Eliya district shall receive 65 mm of rainfall.

Highlights

Monitoring and Prediction
Northern regions shall expect high rainfall (65-85 mm) compared to the rest of the regions of Sri Lanka during 6th-12th March. During 8th-9th March Hambantota district shall be dry and Ratnapura district shall receive 65 mm of rainfall. However rainfall shall decrease drastically during 7th-9th March and shall remain constant for more regions.

Highlights

Monitoring and Prediction
Eastern coastal belt of Sri Lanka, shall receive less than 65 mm of rainfall during 27th February-5th March and rainfall shall spreads in reducing manner towards west direction. More or less entire country shall receive no rainfall condition on the 1st & 2nd of March 2013. However rainfall shall increase gradually during 28th February-1st March and shall gradually decrease thereafter with minor fluctuations.

Highlights

Monitoring and Prediction
Except for the eastern coastal belt of Sri Lanka, there shall be no rainfall for the period from 20th-26th February. Certain parts of Batticaloa and Ampara districts shall receive rainfall less than 2.5 mm, on the 22nd & 23rd February 2013. However a drastic drop in rainfall shall be experienced during 21st-23rd and shall gradually increase thereafter.

Significant amount of rainfall is predicted for Southern regions of Sri Lanka for the coming week. For 15th & 16th February, 2013 Ratnapura and Kegalle districts shall receive a considerable amount of rainfall. However rainfall shall decrease gradually till 22nd for entire Sri Lanka.

However, there shall not be high rainfall observations during the next week (7th-14th February), except for Southern regions. Rainfall is not predicted for eastern coast and slopes regions till 9th February..

Frequent variation of heavy rainfall is expected for East, & South-eastern regions of Sri Lanka, for the period of 30th January-4th February. However, during the first 2 weeks of February the rainfall shall be comparatively lower than the rainfall observed during month of January.
