Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 8 August, 2013


Highlights

Monitoring and Prediction
Rainfall was quite heavy in July in the Southwestern regions of Sri Lanka. Compared to the rest of the island, the coastal belts of Galle to Puttalam are likely to receive heavier rainfall on coming two days (9th & 10th of August). Trincomalee district shall receive comparable amount of rainfall during 7th-12th August. Ongoing rainfall shall increase further, but vary between 4mm/day. However, eastern coast regions shall experience heavier rainfall during next week (9th-15th August) compared to rest of the regions. Significant rainfall events are not expected during next week period (9th-15th August).

Highlights

Monitoring and Prediction
Rainfall was quite heavy in June in the Southern half of Sri Lanka, and July is predicted to be lower although with wetter Southwestern regions in the next week. Compared to the rest of the island, the coastal belts of Galle to Gampaha is likely to receive heavier rainfall on coming three days (2nd, 3rd and 4th of August). Ongoing rainfall shall decrease further. Rainfall is not predicted till 5th August. Rainfall shall increase gradually during 5th-12th August. Significant rainfall events are not expected during next week period (2nd-12th August).

Rainfall was quite heavy in June in the Southern half of Sri Lanka, and July is predicted to be lower although with wetter Southern regions in the next week. Compared to the rest of the island, the coastal belts of Galle to Kalutara is likely to receive heavier rainfall on coming two days (26th and 27th of July). Ongoing rainfall shall decrease gradually till 2nd August with different rates. However, eastern coasts shall receive significant rainfall events around 28th July & 2nd August.

Rainfall was quite heavy in June in the Southern half of Sri Lanka, and July is predicted to be lower although with wetter Southwestern regions in the next week. Compared to the rest of the island, the coastal belts of Gampaha to Galle is likely to receive heavier rainfall on coming two days (19th and 20th of July). Ongoing rainfall shall decrease gradually till 21st-23rd July & increase thereafter till 26th. However, relatively less rainfall event around 20th (trough) shall be expected for western coasts.

Rainfall was quite heavy in June in the Southern half of Sri Lanka, and July is predicted to be lower although with wetter Southwestern regions in the next week. Compared to the rest of the island, the coastal belts of Puttalam to Galle is likely to receive heavier rainfall on coming two days (12th and 13th of July). Ongoing rainfall shall increase gradually till 14th July & decrease drastically thereafter till 17th. However, significant rainfall events around 14th (peak) & 17th (trough) shall be expected for many regions.

Rainfall was quite heavy in June in the Southern half of Sri Lanka, and July is predicted to be lower although with wetter Southwestern regions in the next week. Compared to the rest of the island, the coastal belts of Matara to Colombo is likely to receive heavier rainfall on coming two days (5th and 6th of July). Ongoing rainfall shall decrease gradually till 9th July & increase slightly thereafter till 11th.However, for the Eastern coast, there is likely be comparatively higher rainfall than the other regions. Significant rainfall event shall observe around 11th.

Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 27 June, 2013


Highlights

Monitoring and Prediction
In the coming week Southwestern regions shall experience higher rainfall compared to the rest of the island. Compared to the rest of the island Kalutara, Galle and Ampara districts shall receive heavier rainfall on the 28th of June. However, no rainfall is being shown for the 29th for the entire country. Existing rainfall shall increase slightly after June 27th and shall persist with variations (6-9 mm/day) till 10th of July in most regions of Sri Lanka. Around 4th July rainfall events shall be significant for the western coastal regions and Southern regions of Sri Lanka.
