Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 26, April 2018

Highlights:

  •   The NCEP weekly rainfall forecast predicts total rainfall between 55-65 mm in Kalutara, Gampaha, Colombo and Galle districts during 25th Apr-1st May.
  •   Between 18-24 Apr: up to 50 mm of rainfall was recorded in Galle on the 21st, Kurunegala on the 23rd and Ratnapura on the 24th.
  •   From 15-21 Apr: minimum temperature of 15 OC was recorded from Nuwara Eliya district while Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Anuradhapura and Kurunegala districts  recorded a maximum temperature between  30-35 OC.
  •   From 17-23 Apr: up to 18 km/h, southeasterly winds were experienced by the entire island.
  •   1 OC above average sea surface temperature was observed in the seas around Sri Lanka.

Highlights:

  •   The NCEP weekly rainfall forecast predicts total rainfall between 55-65 mm in Galle and Kalutara districts during 19th -25th Apr.
  •   Between 11-17 Apr: up to 90 mm of rainfall was recorded in Gampaha and Kegalla districts on April 12th.
  •   From 8-14 Apr: minimum temperature of 15 OC was recorded from Nuwara Eliya district while Puttalam and Kurunegala districts recorded a maximum temperature between  30-35 OC.
  •   From 10-16 Apr: up to 20 km/h, easterly winds were experienced by the entire island.
  •   0.OC above average sea surface temperature was observed in the northern seas of Sri Lanka.

Highlights:

  •   The IRI weekly forecast predicts total rainfall between 100-150 mm in Nuwara Eliya and Badulla districts during 4th -9th Apr.
  •   Between 28 Mar-3 Apr: up to 80 mm of rainfall was recorded in Kalutara district on April 1st.
  •   From 25-31 Mar:  minimum temperature of 15 OC was recorded from Nuwara Eliya district while northwestern regions of the island recorded a maximum temperature between  30-35 OC.
  •   From 27 Mar-2 Apr: up to 10 km/h, southeasterly winds were experienced by the entire island.
  •   Average sea surface temperature was observed in the seas around Sri Lanka.
