Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 23 July, 2015


Highlights:


Southern region and the ocean near southern province mostly received rainfall up to 10-50 mm during 14th July – 20th July 2015. Rainfall up to 20-30 mm observed in the ocean near Southern and south western regions on 15th, 16th, 17 and 18th July. Rainfall up to 30 mm observed in Kegalle and Nuwara-Eliya on 19th July and on 20th July and rainfall up to 30 mm observed in southern province and in the ocean near southern province. NOAA models predict high rainfall in south western region of the country in the next fortnight.

Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 16 July, 2015


Highlights:


During 8th July – 14th July 2015 Western and Southern provinces mostly received rainfall up to 20-50 mm. On 10th July rainfall up to 125 mm was observed in the ocean near Matara while 50 mm rainfall was observed in Ratnapura and Kalutara. Rainfall up to 70 mm was observed in the southern region of Nuwara Eliya on 11th July. NOAA models predict high rainfall in south western region of the country in the next fortnight.

Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 09 July, 2015


Highlights:


During 30th June – 6th July 2015 Western, Eastern and Southern provinces mostly received rainfall up to 20 mm. Rainfall up to 20 mm was observed in Western, North Western, Eastern and Uva provinces on 30th June and 1st July. On 2nd July western region of Ampara received rainfall up to 30 mm and on 4th July heavy rainfall up to 70 mm was observed in the ocean near Galle. NOAA models predict high rainfall in south western and southern regions of the country in the next fortnight.

Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 02 July, 2015


Highlights:


During 24th – 30th July 2015 Western and Eastern provinces mostly received rainfall up to 20-50 mm. On 26th and 28th June, rainfall up to 30 mm was observed in Western province and the ocean near Western province. Rainfall up to 50 mm was observed in Ampara on 29th June. NOAA models predict high rainfall in south western and southern regions of the country in the next fortnight. MJO is in phase 7 and this shall lead to a suppression in rainfall significantly.
