Highlights
Monitoring and Prediction
Northern regions of the island shall receive rainfall for the coming two days (25th and 26th April 2013) and North-eastern regions of the island shall receive rainfall during 23rd-29th April. Existing rainfall condition shall increasing with slight variation around 29th April and western slopes shall receive more rainfall. During May 2013 to July 2013, there is a 45-50% probability for temperature to be above normal in the country while the rainfall is to be climatological.

Highlights
Monitoring and Prediction
Western half of the island shall receive rainfall during 17th-23rd April. For the coming two days rainfall shall be concentrated in the Kalutara, Ratnapura, Kegalle district, some places in Polonnaruwa district (on 19th) and Nuwara Eliya district (on 20th). For the entire country existing rainfall conditions shall decrease gradually till 21st and increase thereafter.

Western half of the island shall receive rainfall and more rainfall shall be concentrated to Kalutara district during 9th-15th April. For the coming two days (11th & 12th April) Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces shall expect heavy rainfall compared to other regions of the island.

Heavy rainfall was observed throughout the country in spells of 2 to 3 days in the past week. No extreme rainfall events were observed in the past week nor predicted for the next couple of weeks. The Sea Surface Temperature around Sri Lanka continues to have a positive anomaly.

Western Slopes shall receive much higher rainfall compared to the rest of the country. Western coastal regions also receive high amounts of rainfall until the start of April. Northern and Southern regions shall receive relatively low rainfall.
