Highlights

Monitoring and Prediction
For the most of the parts in Sri Lanka, existing rainfall shall decrease till 24th and it shall increase thereafter till the end of the May. However, there shall not be any significant rainfall events for the entire country, except for the Western coasts. For the western coasts, on 24th there shall be significant rainfall trough. Southwestern regions shall receive 5-55 mm of rainfall for the next week. However, there shall be 60-70% probability for temperature to be above normal in the country during June to August 2013.

Highlights

Monitoring and Prediction
In the coming week, Southwestern regions shall experience significant amount of rainfall, especially in the Galle district, heavy rainfall shall be observed in the coming two days (30th and 31st May). However, in most of regions of Sri Lanka, existing rainfall shall decrease during 31st May-2nd June. Thereafter it shall gradually increase till 10th of May. However, northern &southern regions shall not experience the same phenomena as other regions.

For the most of the parts in Sri Lanka, existing rainfall shall decrease till 18th and it shall increase thereafter. However, there shall not be any significant rainfall events. However, southern 1/3rd shall receive more rainfall compared to the rest of the regions in the island. Jaffna peninsula shall receive low amount of rainfall on 18th May 2013.

Highlights

Monitoring and Prediction
South-western regions of Sri Lanka shall receive rainfall in the coming week (2nd-6th May, 2013) and on 3rd & 4th May, South-western coastal regions shall receive heavy rainfall compared to other regions of Sri Lanka. Western regions shall receive peak rainfall around 5th & 6th May. During May 2013 to July 2013, there is a 45-50% probability for temperature to be above normal in the country while the rainfall is to be climatological.
