Highlights: During the previous week from 18th-24th August, slightly wet weather conditions were expected in certain areas of the country. On 24th 78.5 mm of rainfall was recorded from Jaffna. Lowest temperature was recorded in Nuwara Eliya to be between 15-20 0C while the maximum temperature was recorded from the eastern coastal belt to be between 35-40 0C. 1-3 0C above average temperature anomaly was experienced throughout the country except in Nuwara Eliya. Up to 55 km/h north westerly wind was experienced in the lower half of the country including Kurunegala district. Considerably wet weather conditions are expected in Kalutara and Galle areas for the week from 25th-31st August. Up to 70 mm of rainfall is expected close to Beruwala and Bentota for the period from 25-28th. Up to 40 mm of rainfall is expected in surrounding areas from 25th-31st August. Up to 55 km/h north westerly wind is expected in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Uva provinces.

Highlights :The week from 12th-18th August was slightly wet compared to the previous week. Rainfall less than 10 mm was experienced by several districts including Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Kegalle, Kandy, Gampaha, Kurunegala and Ratnapura. The highest rainfall for the week was recorded on 14th in the border of Kegalle and Nuwara Eliya with a rainfall of 20 mm. For the period from 14th-20th August lowest temperature was recorded in Nuwara Eliya to be between 15-20 OC while the maximum temperature was recorded from the eastern coastal belt to be between 25-40 OC. Overall the entire country has experienced 1-3 OC increase in temperature above normal conditions. For the period from 13th-19th August up to 54 km/h north westerly wind was experienced by the entire island. For the coming week from 22nd-28th August wet weather conditions are expected in Kalutara, Galle and Moneragala districts. On 22nd between 20-40 mm of rainfall is expected close to Moneragala and Buttala. On 23rd up to 40 mm of rainfall is expected in Colombo, Kalutara, Galle and the adjacent sea and close to Maskeliya. For the period from 23rd-26th up to 20 mm of rainfall is expected in the western province and the adjacent sea. On 27th up to 20 mm of rainfall is expected close to Beruwala, Bentota and the adjacent ocean. Considerably high rainfall is expected on 28th . On that day between 40-70 mm of rainfall is expected in the coastal areas of Colombo and the adjacent sea and up to 40 mm of rainfall is expected in the rest of the western province, western sea and Galle district. On the same day 10-20 mm of rainfall is expected in Moneragala and in the north eastern coastal areas including Trincomalee, Mullaitivu and Chundikulum. Maximum temperature is expected in Ampara district to be between 35-40 OC while minimum temperature is expected in Nuwara Eliya to be between 15-20 OC. Up to 54 km/h north westerly wind is expected in the southern half of the country.

Highlights: A slight increase of rain was experienced for the period from 10-16th August compared to the previous week. Up to 30 mm of rainfall was recorded close to Jaffna on 10th while rainfall between 10-20 mm was recorded in several parts of the island over the next few days. Highlights: Mostly dry weather conditions prevailed in the previous week for the period from 3rd-6th while considerable rainfall was experienced by Badulla district in the last two days. Up to 30 mm of rainfall was recorded in Badulla district close to Arawa on 8th while on 9th considerable rainfall was recorded in several districts in the central region of the country. The lowest temperature was recorded in Nuwara Eliya to be between 15-20 0C while the maximum temperature was recorded in the eastern coastal belt to be between 35-40 0C. Up to 54 km/h westerly and north westerly wind was recorded all over the island. For the week from 11th-17th August rainy weather is expected in the western province and the adjoining sea. Highlights :Dry weather conditions prevailed in the previous week from 31st July to 6th August. The RFE 2.0 model shows a rainfall deficit of 10-25% in the South Western side of the island. The lowest temperature was reported from Nuwara Eliya to be around 20 OC while the maximum temperature was recorded from the eastern coastal belt of the island to be between 35-40 OC. During the previous week the temperature of the entire country was 1-3 OC above normal. Westerly wind with speed of 36-55 km/h was recorded all over the country. For the week from 8th-14th August, mostly dry weather conditions are expected in the earlier part of the week. Between 10-20 mm of rainfall are expected on 9th and 13th close to Kalutara district. On 14th up to 40 mm of rainfall is expected in the Western Province and the western sea while up to 20 mm of rainfall is expected in Gampaha, Galle and the adjacent sea. Maximum temperature is expected from the Northern and North Central provinces to be between 35-40 OC while the lowest temperature is expected from Nuwara Eliya and Bandarawela to be between 15-20 OC. Up to 36 km/h north westerly wind is expected in Southern, Western, and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Nuwara Eliya and Moneragala areas while up to 28 km/h south westerly wind is expected in Kurunegala, Kandy, Matale and Ampara areas.

Highlights :Considerable rainfall was recorded in several areas throughout the previous week. On the 24th 30 mm of rainfall was recoded close to Padiyathalawa and in the southern sea close to Matara. Heavy rainfall was recorded on 25th. On that day 50 mm of rainfall was recorded close to Trincomalee and in Yala National Park region while up to 40mm of rainfall was recorded in Gomarankadawala, Nilaweli, western region of Mullaitivu district, Omantai, Gal Oya and several regions in Moneragala close to Yala National Park. On the same day up to 30 mm of rainfall was recorded in Anuradhapura district, Polonnaruwa district, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Trincomale and adjacent sea and lower part of Moneragala district. On 26th the rainfall that had spread over a wide area on the previous day was seen to have concentrated to a few districts. On that day, up to 60 mm of rainfall was recorded close to Palammoodaikullum in the intersection between Mannar and Vavuniya while between 30-50 mm of rainfall was recorded in the border of Mannar, Vavuniya and Mulativu districts and in Kurunegala and Matale districts. On 27th between 30- 40 mm of rainfall was received by Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa districts while on 28th between 30-40 mm of rainfall was recorded in Vavuniya district. Heavy rainfall was recorded throughout the southern half of the island on 29th with recordings of between 20-50 mm of rainfall. Less rainfall was recorded on 30th compared to the past few days of the week. For the week from 1st-7th August, up to 40 mm of rainfall is expected in the coastal areas in Galle on 1st. No rainfall is expected in the island during the rest of the week. For the coming week, minimum temperature is expected in Nuwara Eliya to be between 15-20 OC while maximum temperature is expected in the Eastern region of the island to be between 35-40 OC. The maximum temperature of Central and Western provinces are expected to lie between 25-30 OC while that of Kurunegala and Puttalam districts will be between 30-35 OC. Between 36-54 km/h westerly and north westerly wind is expected throughout the island at 850 mb level.
