Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 17 September, 2015


Highlights:


Up to 30 mm rainfall was observed in few parts of the country during the time period 8th-14th September. Rainfall was mostly observed in western and south western regions of the country. Western region of the country received heavy rainfall on 10th September up to 70 mm. Every prediction model predict high rainfall in western and south western regions during the next week.

Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 10 September, 2015


Highlights:


Up to 40 mm rainfall was observed in various parts of the country during the time period 1st-7th September. Rainfall was mostly observed in northern and north central regions of the country. The entire country received rainfall on 3rd September where Badulla received rainfall up to 100 mm. Trincomalee and southern region of Moneragala received 70 mm rainfall on 6th September. Every prediction model predict high rainfall in western and south western regions during the next week.

Highlights:


Up to 40 m rainfall was observed in various parts of the country during the previous week. Rainfall was mostly observed in the south western region of the country and also in the northern region. Every prediction model predict an increase in rainfall during the next week. Heavy rainfall events are also predicted in Polonnaruwa district during the next week.

Highlights:


High amounts of rainfall was observed in the previous week in the northern region of the country. The rest of the country received mostly light rainfall in the previous week with some exceptions where heavy rainfall was observed. Many rainfall prediction models predict heavy rainfall in western, south western and southern regions of the country as well as the southern sea in the next few days.

SSignificant amount of rainfall was only observed in north central and central regions of the country on the 15th and 16th August with up to 70 mm magnitude. The rest of the country did not receive much rainfall. Dry conditions were observed in the northern, western and eastern regions of the country. NOAA models predict rainfall in south western and central regions of the country in the next fortnight.

Highlights:


Significant amount of rainfall was only observed in south western region of the country on the 8th. Other than that the rest of the country did not receive much rainfall. Dry conditions were observed in the northern region of the country. In the next two weeks high rainfall is not expected in any part of the country. However there shall be light rainfall in most parts of the country.

Highlights:


South western, south eastern and north eastern regions of the country received rainfall while rest of the country did not receive significant amount of rainfall on 28th July – 3rd August 2015. Rainfall up to 50 mm observed in the ocean near Trincomalee and on 29th July, rainfall up to 90 mm was observed in Trincomalee and rainfall up to 80 mm was observed in Moneragala and Ampara. NOAA models predict high rainfall in south western, northern and central regions of the country in the next fortnight.
