Summary

Monitoring

Weekly Monitoring: During the last week (12^th- 17^th September) rainfall ranged between 0 mm- 30 mm. Maximum rainfall of 30 mm observed on 14^th & 15^th for sactterd places of Southern, Western & Southwestern regions of Sri Lanka. Southern half of the island received heavy rainfall on 15^th & 16^th. Scattered rainfall observed during 15^th- 17^th for Jaffna peninsula & North-Eastern regions of the country.

Monthly Monitoring: During August South Western, Western and Some regions of Badulla and Ampara districts experienced an above average rainfall with quite high positive anomaly in the South Western region. The rest of the country experienced below average rainfall during this period.

Summary

Monitoring

Weekly Monitoring: During the last week (6th- 11th September) rainfall ranged between 0 mm- 70 mm. Heavy rainfall was observed during 6th -9th September in South and Western regions of the island which diminished on the 9th. A scattered rainfall was experienced on the 10th in most parts of the country. Rain ceased completely on the 11th for the whole island except for North-Central and South-Eastern regions of the island, which experienced slight rainfall.

Monthly Monitoring: During August South Western, Western and Some regions of Badulla and Ampara districts experienced an above average rainfall with quite high positive anomaly in the South Western region. The rest of the country experienced below average rainfall during this period.

Monitoring

Weekly Monitoring: During the last week (29^th August- 04^th September) rainfall ranged between 0 mm- 60 mm. During first half of the week (29 Aug-01 Sep) southern half of the country showed wet conditions with high rainfall in the Western and South Western regions. A scattered rainfall was experienced during second half with more rainfall for the Western, South Western, Southern and Central regions.

Monthly Monitoring: During August South Western, Western and Some parts of Badulla and Ampara districts experienced an above average rainfall with quite high positive anomaly in the South Western region. The rest of the country experienced below average rainfall during this period.

Monitoring

Weekly Monitoring: During the last week (23^rd- 28^th August) rainfall ranged between 0- 40 mm. Light rainfall observed in Central and South western parts of the country. On the 26^th and the 27^th of August Northern regions also experienced light rainfall.

Monthly Monitoring: During July, southern half of the island experienced a below average rainfall with an increased below average particularly in the Western and South Western regions. It clearly reflects the deficit of the South West Monsoon rainfall up to now. The rest of the island experienced an above average rainfall with a higher intensity in the Trincomalee district while some parts of the Moneragala district also experienced an above average rainfall.

Monitoring

Weekly Monitoring: During the last week (15^th- 21^st August) rainfall ranged between 0mm- 50 mm. 5mm-50mm rainfall was experienced in the Western, South Western, Central and some parts of the Northern region during 15^th -17^th August. Dry conditions prevailed during 19^th-20^th while a scattered rainfall between 5mm-10mm was experienced particularly in the lower part of the Mahaweli basin and some parts of the western region.

Monthly Monitoring: During July, southern half of the island experienced a below average rainfall with an increased below average particularly in the Western and South Western regions. It clearly reflects the deficit of the South West Monsoon rainfall up to now. The rest of the island experienced an above average rainfall with a higher intensity in the Trincomalee district while some parts of the Moneragala district also experienced an above average rainfall.

Monitoring

Weekly Monitoring: During the last week (09^th- 14^th August) rainfall ranged between 0- 140 mm. Light rainfall observed in South-Western region of the country during 9^th-11^th August and rainfall increased on the 12^th for this region. Eastern parts received 10mm-40mm rainfall on the 13^th August while Badulla District experienced high rainfall  up to a maximum of about 140mm on the 14^th August .

Monthly Monitoring: During July, southern half of the island experienced a below average rainfall with an increased below average particularly in the Western and South Western regions. It clearly reflects the deficit of the South West Monsoon rainfall up to now. The rest of the island experienced an above average rainfall with a higher intensity in the Trincomalee district while some parts of the Moneragala district also experienced an above average rainfall.
