Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 28 May, 2015


Highlights:


During 20th – 26th May 2015, only slight amounts of rainfall was observed throughout the country. Rainfall was only observed in the south western region during this period. However NOAA models predict high rainfall in the north western region of the country in the next fortnight while rainfall in the south western region is expected in the next few days. The MJO has been weak for some time now and therefore no influence on the rainfall from MJO is expected.

Highlights:


Relatively high rainfall was observed during 12th- 18th May 2015 in Sri Lanka. Heavy rainfall was observed in Vavuniya and Puttalam districts during this period. The rest of the country received up to 30 mm rainfall as well. NOAA models predict a continuation in high rainfall during the next two weeks

Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 14 May, 2015


Highlights:


AA rainfall around 10 - 130mm rainfall was received throughout the week in entire country during 6 th May to 12 th May 2015. In the first two days of the week the rainfall was around 10-30mm and Kurunegala, Matale and Vavuniya districts received the highest rainfall of 130mm in the end of the week. The entire country received heavy rains on 10 th May and the heavy rains were gradually increased up to 30-40mm in northern region while the central and southern region of the country received the average rainfall of 10-20mm. NOAA predicts a continuation of high rainfall in Sri Lanka in the next two weeks.

Highlights:


Around 15- 20 mm rainfall was observed throughout the country during 29th April to 5th May 2015. A random increase and decrease in rainfall was observed during this period. Above average rainfall was observed throughout the country during April except in north eastern regions of the country. NOAA predicts a continuation of high rainfall in Sri Lanka in the next two weeks.
