Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 29, March 2018

Highlights:

  •   The NCEP weekly forecast predicts total rainfall between 75-85 mm in Batticaloa and Ampara districts during 4th -10th Apr.
  •   Between 21- 27 Mar: up to 100 mm of rainfall was recorded in Colombo district on the 27th.
  •   From 18- 24 Mar:  minimum temperature of 15 OC was recorded from Nuwara Eliya district while Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Vavuniya and Ratnapura districts recorded a maximum temperature between 30-35 OC.
  •   From 20- 26 Mar: up to 18 km/h, northeasterly winds were experienced by the entire island.
  •   Average sea surface temperature was observed in the seas around Sri Lanka.

Highlights:

  •   The IRI weekly forecast predicts total rainfall between 25-50 mm in Kandy, Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Monaragala, and Ratnapura districts during 21st - 26th Mar.
  •   Between 13- 19 Mar: up to 80 mm of rainfall was recorded in Kilinochchi district on the 13th.
  •   From 11- 17 Mar:  minimum temperature of 15 OC was recorded from Nuwara Eliya district while Kurunegala, Puttalam and Kegalla districts   recorded a maximum temperature between  30-35 OC.
  •   From 13- 19 Mar: up to 18 km/h, easterly winds were experienced by the entire island.
  •   Average sea surface temperature was observed in the seas around Sri Lanka.

  •   Between 7- 13 Mar: up to 100 mm of rainfall was recorded in Ampara district on the 11th.
  •   From 4- 10 Mar:   minimum temperature of 15 OC was recorded from Nuwara Eliya district while Kurunegala and Puttalam districts  recorded a maximum temperature between  30-35 OC.
  •   From 6- 12 Mar: up to 36 km/h, easterly winds were experienced by the entire island.
  •   0.OC above average sea surface temperature was observed in the seas around Sri Lanka.

  •   The IRI weekly forecast predicts total rainfall between 75-100 mm in Ampara and Monaragala districts during 7th-12th Mar.  
  •   Between 27 Feb- 5 Mar: up to 140 mm of rainfall was recorded in Batticaloa district on the 27th.
  •   From 25 Feb- 3 Mar:  minimum temperature of 15 OC was recorded from Nuwara Eliya district while Kurunegala  district  recorded a maximum temperature between  30-35 OC.
  •   From 27 Feb- 5 Mar: up to 22 km/h, easterly winds were experienced by the entire island.
  •   Average sea surface temperature was observed in the seas around Sri Lanka.
