Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 24, November 2016


Highlights:


The NOAA NCEP model predicts heavy rainfall (up to 125 mm) from 23rd– 29th November for the coastal regions of Colombo. Heavy rainfall events were experienced throughout the island during 16–22 November, with the highest recorded rainfall of 140 mm on the 22nd in Hanwella and Giriulla. Minimum temperature of 15 OC was recorded from Nuwara Eliya district while most parts of the island recorded a maximum temperature between 30-35 OC. Up to 20 km/h north easterly winds were experienced by the entire country.

Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 17, November 2016


Highlights: South western regions of the country experienced heavy rainfall during the latter part of previous week from 9th–15th November. The highest rainfall of 100 mm for the period was recorded in Imaduwa region on 14th. Minimum temperature of 15 OC was recorded from Nuwara Eliya district while most parts of the island recorded a maximum temperature between 30-35 OC .Up to 20 km/h north easterly winds were recorded in the southern region of the country. For the period after the 16th, November the NOAA NCEP model predicts up to 135 mm of rainfall for Sri Lanka outside the South with highest values in the North, East, North-Central regions.

Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 10, November 2016


Highlights: Wet weather conditions prevailed in many parts of the country during the previous week from 2rd-7th November. The highest rainfall of 90 mm for the period was recorded in adjacent south eastern sea on 3rd. Minimum temperature of 15 OC was recorded from Nuwara Eliya district while most parts of the island recorded a maximum temperature between 30-35 OC Up to 20 km/h north westerly winds were recorded in the southern region of the country. For the period from 2nd– 8th November the NOAA NCEP model predicts up to 85 mm of rainfall for Colombo and adjacent sea regions.

Weekly Hydro-meteorological Report, 3, November 2016


Highlights: Heavy rainfalls were observed throughout the country during the latter part of the previous week from 26th October -1st November. The highest rainfall of 160mm for the period was recorded in Galle and Matara on 30th. Minimum temperature of 15 OC was recorded from Nuwara Eliya district while the maximum temperature between 35-40 OCwas recorded from Trincomalee. Up to 20km/h north westerly winds were recorded in the Southern province. For the period from 2nd– 8th November the NOAA NCEP model predicts up to 85mm of rainfall for Colombo and adjacent sea regions. Up to 18km/h north westerly wind is expected in the whole country.
